QUESTION

Can I run a trading bot on my phone?

SHORT ANSWER

No. The MetaTrader mobile apps for iOS and Android cannot run Expert Advisors — that capability exists only in the Windows desktop terminal. Anything advertised as a mobile trading bot is running elsewhere, and the phone is only a control panel.

This is a platform limitation rather than a licensing one. The mobile apps are built for charting, manual order entry and account monitoring; they contain no EA execution environment, and no setting or subscription unlocks one.

It is also true of the browser. MetaTrader's web terminal does not run Expert Advisors either, and the macOS builds available are wrappers around the Windows application rather than native ports. In practice, automated MT5 trading means a Windows machine somewhere.

So when a product offers a mobile trading bot, the honest reading is that the bot runs on a server and the phone controls it. That is a perfectly reasonable architecture — it is simply not the phone doing the trading, and the distinction matters because it tells you what happens when your phone is off (nothing changes) versus when the server is off (everything stops).

How ours handles it

Our Mobile + PC plan runs the bot on a VPS we provide, with monitoring available from a phone. The bot never executes on the phone — it executes on a Windows machine in a data centre, continuously, and the phone shows you what it did.

The Desktop plan is the other arrangement: the bot runs on your own Windows PC and trades while that machine is on. Neither plan puts execution on a phone, because no MT5 product can. See pricing and the setup guide.
