Zero fires in live trading.
What we learned
Zero fires in live trading. The engulfing pattern is among the most-taught candlestick signals, and on a one-minute gold chart it occurs constantly, which means the additional gates in the chain were doing the filtering.
Candlestick patterns in general suffer from a definitional problem: what counts as engulfing depends on whether you compare bodies or full ranges, and on which timeframe. That sensitivity is not a good foundation for an automated rule.
